“A wish to show the well – known through the un – known“.

Painting flowers by hand on Dior´s silk for John Galliano, analyzing trends at Peclers, and working long hours as a Junior Designer at Alexander McQueen  – all experiences that made the Danish designer, Anne Sofie Madsen, realize that she wanted to make her own label.

– If I am going to work like this, I might as well have my own name on the back of the blouse, Madsen says in an interview by Dorothea Gundtoft in Fashion Scandinavia.

Since graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2009 Anne Sofie Madsen has proved her collections to be of international format. With her evident love for couture, her approach is to make artistic pieces ready- to- wear. True to her avant-garde style, she does this by using a mix of traditional handcraft methods and couture techniques in her designs.

When making a piece for a collection, it is the expression within a shape, material or color that is important for Anne Sofie, not the garment itself.  The designer is well known for her sartorial skills and always starts the creative process with a pencil and watercolor – often in a noisy room – where the movement is and creativity can take place.

Anne Sofie Madsen wish to show the well-known through the un-known, materialized by her futuristic take on fashion. Inspired by illustrations, pictures, feelings and thoughts about the past, the now and the future – masterpieces are created.

She elegantly plays with the contrast between the soft and solid in each design, working with diverse materials, textures and shapes. Her focus on details and handmade illustrated prints makes Anne Sofie Madsens design stand out. It is all a work of art.
